Reluctantly selling my beloved and utterly beautiful 1993 Honda NX650 Dominator, which as you can see has been extensively and beautifully, converted by the legendary bike builder Andrew Greenland. If you are not familiar with his work, just Google his name and see some of the astonishing machines he has built.
This was his 14th (and final) Honda Dominator build, and the bike that he built for himself, before he had the crazy idea of entering the world of building 4x4's. This came up for sale and I bought it without hesitation a year ago and have loved every minute of her!
His idea with the build was to pay homage to the Honda CR250 Elsinore of the 1970's, as raced by the legendary Steve McQueen, and he certainly nailed it with his one!
Here is a copied transcript of Andrew's interview with Bikebound.com regarding this bike, who else to tell it better than the man who built her:
"The 14th and final Dominator build from an NX master…The Honda NX650 Dominator has become one of the most popular donors for modern scrambler builds. The XR650-derived engine is nigh on indestructible, with decent punch and dual exhaust ports, and the chassis can hammer through urban traffic or weekend trails with equal enthusiasm.EnterAndrew Greenlandof Wales, one of the earliest builders to see the potential in the platform. Andrew is a dozer driver by day whose Honda builds have been featured in publications all around the world, includingBike EXIFandPipeburn. We’ve been honored to showcase three of his more recent builds.Today, we’re proud and a tad misty-eyed to feature Andrew’s 14th (!) and final Dominator build, a ’93 NX650 street scrambler that recalls the Honda CR250 Elsinore of the 1970s, featuring Elsinore side panels, front fender, and a chrome tank. Says Andrew:“This one will be my last NX build as I have done so many now (14!) and I work away from home a lot these days…”The donor was a bit of a gamble - a non-runner with a low-mileage engine out of a later bike:“Got it up and running eventually and sure enough motor sounds sweet!”Once he had the bike running, Andrew got to work on the customisation side. The bike’s hubs have been re-laced to dual 17-inch rims, given the bike something of a super moto stance despite the chunky big-block tires, and the suspension and brakes have been reconditioned but remain stock, easing maintenance for the future owners. The paint is Andrew’s own work, and it’s also the first time he’s built a bike with both full fenders and lighting. That isn’t the only first in this last Dominator build - for once, he intends to keep this one!“I have built many of these bikes now but have never managed to hang on to one so this is gonna be mine!”Below, we get more details on this bittersweet build, the last Dominator from a master of the form.

Sure thing, bike started out as a stock 93’ NX650 Dominator, both wheels were then rebuilt with 17” rims, rear frame section was cut and adjusted for new ride height and to accommodate the new seat tank and fender etc. This is first time I’ve built a bike with both fenders and full electrics – indicators etc.Suspension was then reconditioned but remains stock as do the brakes, I try to keep everything as standard as possible for ease of maintenance for the future owners.Motor came from a low mileage bike with only 4k miles so everything was spot on. I always thoroughly flush the engine and frame with at least two oil and filter changes and replace the clutch plates.Parts used….Front fender – 1973 CR250 ElsinoreRear fender – 1970’s YZ125Side panels – reproduction 1975 CR250Seat from ebayTank CG125 copy chromeExhaust – downpipes CB500, mid section – RG250 gamma, finished with a Supertrapp end cap.I have owned her since August 2020 and she has been without fault, as happy commuting (on occasion) across London as she is on motorway jaunts, she runs beautifully and does not overheat or complain, she just rides. She has been garaged every night of my ownership, attached to a trickle charger and has never seen rain in my time with her.
Just sailed through a fresh MOT, which is valid until June 2022, no advisories.
Please view the photos in conjunction as they form an integral part of the description. Viewings are welcome with prior arrangement but please note that the bike is kept in a locked garage I rent that is not at my home address, I will NOT be taking anyone to my garage! Bike is owned by me and registered at my home address of course.
Sorry, no test rides, this is a special machine and I will not let anyone just ride off on her! That said, I am happy to take her out for a ride and for you to follow me to see & hear her in action. I have a young baby (hence lack of use of the bike) so need a little notice of viewings please!
I am also selling another of my 'special' bikes due to the same lack of use, it pains me to have them just sitting in the garage doing nothing, so I have bitten the bullet and decided to let them go to a new home where they will not only beappreciated, but also used!
I am a genuine seller, not a trader. Please, no overseas bidders, no PX or swaps (I have too many bikes) and no derisory offers, I don't need the money, I just want the bikes to be used and cherished. Any bidders with less than 10 feedback will have their bids cancelled and be blocked unless prior contact is made, this is to protect genuine interested bidders from being toppled by daydreamers and keyboard warriors, i'm sure you will understand. Sensible reserve applied, there is a LOT of money in this bike and I will not sell her for pennies!
Cash on collection or cleared bank transfer only, NO PayPal. Thank you.
I have uploaded a little walk around video to YouTube so you can see & hear her in more detail, please copy and paste the following if it doesn't connect when you click, I think Apple products don't like links on here!
Thank you for taking the time to read this pretty exhaustive listing, if you appreciate the bike I hope you will appreciate my passion for it and my desire to describe her correctly. Please feel free to ask any questions, I will do my best to answer. I work during the day so may be a few hours before replying, but I WILL reply to everyone.
Thank you and regards,
